Yard of the Month

Fieldside’s “Yard of the Month” Program

The Fieldside Neighborhood Association is dedicated to improving the quality of living and the appearance of our community. We encourage residents to take pride in their homes, property, and neighborhood.  In turn, we look to celebrate those who take time to maintain their front yards and porches.  In doing so, this represents pride, devotion, personal satisfaction, and community preservation.   Therefore, inherently enhancing the overall curb appeal of the entire Fieldside neighborhood.

Contest Guidelines:

  • All current Fieldside properties are eligible to participate in the “Yard of the Month” program except for current board members properties.
  • Winners may be disqualified if their property is in violation of any HOA covenants, county regulations and/or currently delinquent on HOA dues.
  • While an individual’s home is being recognized as a Fieldside’s “Yard of the Month” they are expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the award.
  • In the event they are selected, a homeowner may elect to refrain from participation.
  • Award winners are selected based on the approved judging criteria (see criteria list below).
  • Key criteria include manicured yard, beautification, originality, and creativity.
  • The upkeep of the yard can reflect the efforts of the residents themselves or that of a professional landscaper or groundskeeper.
  • An award duration term lasts a single calendar month and runs from the first Monday of the month to the last day of the same month.  Recipients receiving the Yard of the Month sign shall surrender the same Yard of the Month sign at the end of that same month.
  • A property can only win the Fieldside’s Yard of the Month once per calendar year.

Judging Methodology and Criteria

Fieldside’s Yard of the Month candidates are judged solely on the total exterior appearance of their property and front yard as viewed from the street.  General upkeep of the yard and property is paramount.  At a minimal 3 current and active board members shall judge qualified properties. Factors include the overall appearance, tidiness, and neatness of the front of the property.  Pruned, trimmed and shaped foliage, edged and defined lawns, borders, flowers, and flowers beds, and visual appealing facade shall be considered by board members.  Board members will view qualified properties at the end of each month from June through September.  Based on approved criteria board members shall select one single family and one townhome as Fieldside’s Yard of the Month for the following month.  Notification and presentation of the award should take place during the 1st week of the award month.

Note:  While the lack of strict adherence to the methodology and criteria above does not necessarily result in disqualification, these principles offer general guidelines that should be recognized by the Yard of the Month program. Board Members, Board Officers, and properties owned or managed by our Property Management Company are not eligible to participate.
